I’m really excited to see York Does Vintage returning to town for a Christmas special on the 3rd December! The event, run by Now and the Events was a great day out last time with something for absolutely everyone and this time around there’ll be the added benefit of being able to get some serious Christmas shopping done! Held at St Williams College (situated behind York Minster) with its amazing old beams and rich history, where could be more perfect for a vintage event.

I’m looking forward to seeing the Christmas tearoom, as last time there were some yummy cupcakes and beautiful china cups and saucers, bring on the mince pies! I also don’t want to miss out on the hair and beauty girls that will be there too, hopefully I can get some tips for Christmas and New Years Parties!!

There is a lot more going on including vintage stalls, bunting workshops and even live singers and all of this will cost just £1 (or 50p if you are a student)! What makes the whole day even better is that 15% of all money taken on the door goes to help the Alzheimer’s Society. Vintage clothes, christmas cupcakes and helping charity? Count me in!

Visited Skipton on Market day, and discovered some great shops, including lots of charity shops!!

Favourite shops included Emma’s Apothecary, which was like an Aladdins cave – full of cosmetics, sweets, stationary, bedding – it stocked loads of different brands, including Pip Studio, which will feature in an up coming post. And the second favourite had to be the most amazing cake shop I’ve ever seen called Fanticy -not only did they sell loads of cupcake cases and cake making accessories they sold the most beautiful cupcakes – there were even ones with iced daisies on top!! Pictured are the vanilla cupcakes – which came all wrapped up in the box stickered and ribboned!!

I loved the cupcake cases they stocked, I’ve never seen such a choice, the ones with strawberries and cherries on were my favourite!!

A new vintage shop!!

A new vintage shop ‘The House Of Avalon’ opened in York last month, not only does it contain a roomful of beautiful vintage garments and accessories but the back room also contains a little coffee shop! (Complete with cupcakes!)
They stock an impressive amount of beautiful dresses and garments, all reasonably priced and all of excellent quality. They also offer hairstyle and make up advice to complete your vintage look.
Another great thing about the House of Avalon is that it is a social enterprise project by The Avalon Group, which is a northern based charity working with adults who need support to live the life they choose, including people with learning disabilities, mental health needs and older adults.

I bought a little cropped jacket with three quarter length sleeves, pale blue in colour with flocked white flowers. The buttons are pearl effect with little sparkly gems encrusted in the middle of them. It was all wrapped up beautifully in tissue and raffia.
